Derby Trailblazers Basketball Club

Derby Trailblazers are delighted to welcome Blake Bowman back to the club where he began his
basketball journey as a youngster, playing basketball through all age groups of the junior system before
progressing into the senior side.

The 6’5” small forward is a sharp-shooter who is equally as adept at shooting from long range as
he is at slashing to the basket for lay-ups. He was a member of the Trailblazers side which lifted
the L Lynch Trophy in 2022, netting thirteen points to help his side defeat Newcastle Knights 86-71
in front of a packed crowd at Ponds Forge in Sheffield.

Bowman has spent the last four seasons with Leicester Riders, but the latter two years were
hampered by injury, which means he hasn’t played for some considerable time, but is now fully fit
and eager to make his return to competitive action.

“We spent most of the summer talking and trying to figure out what was right for him and now
there’s an opportunity where he’s available and keen to play for us. To get someone of calibre
and experience at this level will definitely impact the team in a very positive way.

“He will obviously have to readjust and find his feet, but he’ll be joining back up with some of the
older guys he’s played with before. He’s excited to be back with us and to be on the court again, and we’re just as excited to have him back.

“I’ve worked with him at multiple different levels within the club, but to have him back and playing
for us at this level is definitely a really proud moment for me and everyone at the club, so I’m super
happy to have him back,”
he said.

Bowman’s return remains subject to final registration clearance, with the club hopeful he could play a part in Saturday’s road trip to Bristol Hurricanes.

However, should the process carry into early next week, the Trailblazers faithful won’t have to wait long to see him in action, with all eyes firmly set on a home debut against Yorkshire Dragons next weekend.
